Role Overview
We’re on the hunt for the next great Senior Social Media Video Editor to take JAAQ’s innovative mental health storytelling and share it with the world.
We mean it when we say this is one of our most important hires for the future.
This fast, dynamic creator isn't a traditional editor - you’ll bring a blend of creativity and social media expertise, with a strong instinct for crafting compelling narratives in every piece of content. Whether it's a 30-second reel or a longer interview, you know how to find and shape the story that resonates.
We have hours of emphatic accountable storytelling on an array of mental health topics that needs your skillset to reach the audience that needs it most.
Should that sound bite go earlier? Should this be the hook? What animations could enhance this? These are second nature to you.
You’ll thrive here if you embrace our company culture and have a “hunter” mentality - constantly seeking ways to tell stories using the JAAQ archives. You should be able to watch an hour of JAAQ footage and identify 20 different short-form storytelling opportunities.
We need someone who speaks up, challenges the status quo, and takes pride in delivering content that doesn’t just perform - it connects with people and entices them to discover what our platform offers. If our content isn't driving engagement, you take it personally and won’t stop until it does.
You should love the process of testing, learning, and refining. If you're not taking risks, you're not telling the right story.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Capability
* Craft best-in-class dynamic, high-impact social media trailers for ‘JAAQpresents’
* This output should transform JAAQ’s mental health platform into engaging, shareable narratives across short-form video channels.
* This should be born from a sharp editorial instinct, a deep knowledge of social, a passion for testing and refining content, and an arsenal of strong MoGraph and VFX skills.
Thought Leadership
* Influence production for JAAQ filming in order to benefit the wider platform, but ultimately your own work too.
* Challenge the team on what ‘good’ looks like in delivering great social in pre-production (second cameras, b-roll decisions etc).
Collaboration
* Work collaboratively with the wider social team on the publishing calendar, ensuring the team adopts optimal naming conventions for files and folder organisation at all times.
* Go above and beyond with maximising edits to assist the team - are there multiple assets within one timeline here?
* Develop a video cycling plan with the team to repurpose our biggest successes every 3-6 months.
Creative Thinking
* Be a creative strategist and support other content within the JAAQ social media ecosystem and across other satellite channels.
* It is your job to set the standard, and then help evolve our other output.
* Work collaboratively with the Head of Social and VP of Content to inform the wider content strategy, and drive to push storytelling boundaries across the business.
Mentoring
* Lead the growing social-leaning editors within our wider creative team and guide the team on what makes great social video.
* Teach them how to move from a technical to story-led approach.
* Be the go-to person for editing questions to free up the Head of Social.
