Job Title: Draughtsman
Reporting to: Principal Engineer
Location: Wessington Cryogenics Limited, Houghton le Spring, Tyne & Wear
Working Pattern: Full time, 9 Day Fortnight - Every other Friday off
Overall Aim:
* To assist in the design and development of WCLs range of cryogenic storage vessels and any other associated projects to ensure they conform to various technical and legislative requirements.
* To support continuous improvement to increase competitiveness of WCL working with internal and external partners and "in house" initiatives.
Outline of Responsibilities:
* Produce component and assembly drawings using AutoCAD / Solidworks or equivalent.
* Ensure drawing files are maintained
* Ensure design review files are maintained
* Issue/control drawings to WCL departments and 3 parties
* Organise prepare of final production drawings and support the production of BOMs for production purchasing & sales departments
* Proactively liaise with production employees to co-ordinate activities or trouble shoot to ensure design projects are delivered on time and in full
* General conceptual design drawings to confirm layout arrangements, volumetric calculations, P&ID schematics
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
Essential:
* A minimum of ONC level (or equivalent) in Engineering or draughting based subject, is required.
* Skills sufficient to produce high quality and accurate 2D and / or 3D drawings using AutoCAD / Solidworks or equivalent.
* Good communication skills are essential allowing for effective liaison with other Wessington departments and third parties.
* A commitment to continuous professional development
* IT literate - Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office Suite
* Good understanding of various manufacturing techniques associated with sheet metal fabrication.
* Ability to work alone and under pressure to meet demanding deadlines across multi projects.
* Willingness to work in a flexible manner and outside of normal working hours if required
Desirable:
* Basic knowledge of pressure vessel codes and legislation
* Experience in working with third party inspection bodies
* Experience in working with 3d software packages such as Solidworks / Inventor
