Are you passionate about safe patient handling and supporting best practice in clinical settings? We are excited to offer an opportunity to join our dedicated team as a Band 5 Assistant Manual Handling Advisor.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patient handling and clinical care, and be keen to develop in other areas of moving and handling, supporting and advising colleagues in non-clinical areas. You will work alongside our Manual Handling Advisors to promote safe moving and handling practices across the organisation, supporting staff through training, assessments, and hands-on guidance.
The Manual Handling Team provides a broad range of information and support to clinicians in handling patients with complex needs, offering advice to prevent work-related musculoskeletal conditions. The post holder must liaise confidently with a wide range of healthcare professionals and deliver Moving and Handling training in both classroom and clinical environments. The team operates across multiple sites, so the ability to travel/work between sites is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist in delivering manual handling training sessions for clinical and non-clinical staff.
2. Support risk assessments and audits related to patient handling.
3. Provide on-the-spot advice and coaching in clinical areas.
4. Contribute to the development and review of manual handling policies and procedures.
5. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Experience:
* HND/Foundation Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience.
* Accredited Safer People Handling Course, ROSPA, or willingness to gain within 3 months.
* Demonstrable experience of teaching/sharing knowledge related to manual handling in an NHS environment.
* Recent relevant clinical experience in healthcare.
* Experience as a manual handling cascade trainer or similar.
* Knowledge of applicable Manual Handling Health and Safety legislation.
Desirable:
* Experience undertaking manual handling risk assessments.
* Experience delivering manual handling training at induction and refresher levels in NHS settings.
