Overview
The Supported Learning Department is seeking a Level 7 Assessor (Teacher) to support adult learners with diverse needs. You will deliver and assess high-quality, inclusive teaching tailored to adult learners working towards qualifications in areas such as personal development, employability, or independent living. This role requires a flexible, learner-centred approach and a commitment to promoting progression and independence. You will hold a relevant Level 7 teaching qualification and Assessor award (e.g. TAQA/CAVA), with experience in adult or supported learning. This is a permanent, full-time position (35 hours per week) based at Nicholls and City Labs campuses.

Starting Salary and Training
TheStarting salary for an unqualified teacher is between £28,300.00 - £30,307.50, with a route to qualified teacher status for post-16 education (Cert Ed/PGCE) supported by The Teaching Academy. This includes 3-4 hours of delivery per week and mentoring to support progression. Once qualified and competent, you will move to the qualified teacher salary banding. Consideration may be given to relevant industry experience for a higher starting salary.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* Level 7 qualification in Exam Access Arrangements Assessing or SpLD Practicing Certificate
* Specialist Dyslexia/ Dyscalculia Teaching qualification at Level 5 or above or achievement within 2 years of employment
* Bachelor of Education with QTS, Certificate of Education or PGCE
* Current and valid industry specialism in SpLD and EAA Assessment
* Assessor qualifications (if required by Awarding Organisation)
* Minimum Level 7 occupational qualification
* English and maths minimum Level 2 (Grade C or Grade 4 and above)
Also, at least one of the following
* A postgraduate level course at or equivalent to Level 7, including at least 100 hours relating to individual specialist assessments of learners with Dyslexia/SplD or Exam Access Arrangements
* A current SpLD/Practising Certificate awarded by BDA, the Dyslexia Guild, or PATOSS and listed on the SASC website
Relevant subject knowledge includes the theoretical basis underlying psychometric tests, validity and reliability, standard deviations and the normal curve, raw scores, standard scores, quotients, percentiles, age-equivalent scores, statistically significant discrepancies between scores, standard error of discrepancy, standard error of measurement, and confidence levels.
