About the Hotel
The hotel offers a peaceful and tranquil setting in the Hertfordshire countryside. The hotel boasts 80 bedrooms all comfortable and contemporarily styled and an onsite leisure club which includes a fitness suite, steam room, sauna and an indoor swimming pool as well as a beauty Spa. We also offer an 18 hole Championship Golf Course which is designed around the hotel and provides a challenging, yet enjoyable experience, regardless of handicap
We offer conference and banqueting facilities; catering for up to 400 guests, we can host all types of events; from weddings, training workshops, exhibitions to private dinners and balls.
About the Role:
We are seeking a professional Reception Manager to lead our front desk team for our hotel. The ideal candidate shall have excellent interpersonal skills, a passion for delivering warm and memorable guest experiences, and strong leadership qualities. You will be the face of the hotel, ensuring guests feel welcomed, cared for, and supported throughout their stay. In addition to managing the reception team, you will take on Duty Manager responsibilities, including overseeing the hotel during late shifts and acting as the point of contact when management is off-site. This is a key role that combines leadership, guest service excellence, and operational oversight ito ensure a smooth and professional hotel experience.
Job Duties:
* Oversee the day-to-day operations of the reception area, ensuring smooth check-in/out processes and efficient guest service.
* Greet guests with warmth and professionalism; resolve complaints promptly and professionally, always aiming for guest satisfaction.
* Lead, train, schedule, and support the reception team, fostering a positive working environment and high service standards.
* Supervise bookings, cancellations, and communications via phone, email, and online systems; ensure accurate records and availability.
* Coordinate with housekeeping, maintenance, and other departments to ensure seamless guest experiences.
* Maintain reception records, occupancy reports, and handle cash, billing, and financial procedures with accuracy.
* Uphold all hotel policies, health and safety standards, GDPR compliance, and security protocols.

Requirements:
* Proven experience in a similar role within the hospitality industry, ideally in a countryside hotel.
* Excellent communication and customer service skills.
* Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
* Leadership experience and ability to motivate a small team.
* Proficiency in hotel management software (e.g. Guestline, Rezlinks or similar).
* Flexible with working hours, including weekends and bank holidays.
Desirable:
* Knowledge of the local area and ability to provide recommendations to guests.
* First Aid certification and/or fire safety training.
