The Purchasing Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the site procurement strategy aligns with Kronospan's strategic requirements.
The Purchasing Supervisor monitors procurement activities among purchasing and storeroom associates, intervening and correcting as needed. They oversee and monitor all purchasing activities for the site, supporting Senior Management, Supervisors, and all Departments regarding Purchasing needs, policy application, employee relations, and continuous improvement within the department.
The Purchasing Supervisor has both direct and indirect responsibility for all site purchases and service contracts.
1. Manage all aspects of sourcing strategy, including contracting and related purchasing decisions, to improve product quality and profitability.
2. Develop and implement plans to reduce transaction costs, streamline processes, and increase transaction speed.
3. Manage inventory planning and purchasing using technology and data to eliminate waste and boost productivity.
4. Negotiate with vendors for materials, supplies, equipment, and services, considering price and service guarantees; assist buyers as needed.
5. Coordinate with production, maintenance, and stores to ensure proper parts are ordered in correct quantities.
6. Develop new supply sources as needed.
7. Conduct supplier analysis, evaluate potential suppliers, and manage the supplier qualification process.
8. Evaluate and recommend purchasing and sourcing decisions to leadership.
9. Develop, implement, and manage multi-year contracts, including renegotiations and discontinuations.
10. Oversee Vendor Managed programs performance.
11. Set performance goals and monitor ongoing performance of the purchasing department with the Sr. Purchasing Manager.
12. Provide training, communication, and infrastructure to optimize purchasing processes.
13. Perform other duties as assigned by the purchasing director.
14. Ensure ethical dealings with vendors and adherence to anti-trust policies.
Requirements
1. 5+ years in purchasing management, preferably in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
2. English – C1 level proficiency.
3. Excellent computer skills, especially in Excel and Microsoft Office.
4. Proficiency with purchasing and ERP software.
5. BS degree in engineering, supply chain, or business preferred.
6. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
7. Strong leadership skills and understanding of personnel practices.
8. Knowledge of accounting/purchasing applications and mathematical concepts.
9. Ability to multitask in a dynamic environment and work independently.
10. Strong customer service skills and sense of urgency.
11. Advanced knowledge of legal terminology related to supplier agreements and contracts.
12. Extensive experience with ERP systems.
13. Knowledge of contract procedures, data analysis, financial analysis, forecasting, and legal considerations.
