Overview
The Specialist Psychotherapist team offers psychotherapy to a diverse population including individuals with a diagnosis of Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and/or Epilepsy. The successful applicant would join a well-established team with a track record of collaborative and supportive work to improve symptoms and quality of life. The role includes managing a clinical psychotherapy caseload and contributing to wider service delivery and improvements, with opportunities to engage in local and national research in this specialist area.
Main duties of the job
* Establish/maintain a psychotherapy service for patients with functional neurological symptoms or psychological difficulties linked to other neurological conditions such as epilepsy.
* Offer a front-line psychotherapy service for neurology patients, delivering psychotherapy to meet diverse needs.
* Deliver trauma-informed psychotherapy when appropriate.
* Provide a versatile service responsive to individual needs including language, nationality, ethnicity, sexuality, learning ability, communication style, mental health, gender identification, and physical health conditions.
* Develop understanding and promote awareness within a defined catchment area and the broader medical community of the interaction between psychological and physical dimensions of neurological illness.

Person specification
Qualifications
* Professional qualification in Psychotherapy to post-graduate diploma level with evidence of working towards a Master’s degree in psychotherapy
* Current full professional registration with BACP, BABCP or UKCP
* Accredited membership of BACP, BABCP or UKCP
Experience
* Clinical experience of providing trauma-informed psychotherapy.
* Clinical experience of working with diversity in psychotherapy.
* Clinical experience of working with a range of communication needs in psychotherapy.
* Interest in the mind–body link in the specialist area.
* Experience/training in providing telephone/video psychotherapy.
* Experience and/or training in using a range of IT packages.
* Post-qualification experience working with the mind–body link.
* Ability to use a range of psychotherapeutic approaches with a diverse client group.
* Experience of working collaboratively with other services (mental health, health services, voluntary/charity sectors, primary care, e.g., GP, IAPT).
* Experience of providing clinical supervision.
Further Training
* Trauma-informed psychotherapy training.
* Evidence of ongoing Continued Professional Development.
* Training in attachment theory/therapy.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Capable of working autonomously and well in a team.
* Audit and research skills in psychotherapy-related projects.

* Willingness and ability to work remotely (from home) and from regional clinic settings when possible.
