Duties & Responsibilities
Primarily to provide expertise and capability in the delivery of streamlined business solutions to operational teams.
To work closely with other IT operatives in the development, integration, testing and maintenance of software, applications and associated databases that drive operational processes. The role is highly varied, and the role holder will need to be proficient in a number of different programming languages, as this may change depending on the requirements of the specific project. The individual will need to flexible and adaptable in order to meet the changing requirements of the business, however main duties and responsibilities will involve:
•Reviewing current systems
•Presenting ideas for system improvements, including cost proposals
•Working closely with analysts, designers and staff
•Producing detailed specifications and writing the program codes
•Testing in controlled, real situations before going live
•Ongoing system maintenance and trouble shooting
•Preparation of training manuals and delivery of training for users
Experience
•A working knowledge of delivering AI-based solutions within scientific/technical service provision would be an advantage
•Demonstrable experience in IT project management
•Strong SQL Experience (or equivalent) including report writing (SSRS), SQL Server 2016 Database Development, and SQL Integration Service
•Excellent working knowledge of MS Access with office automation + VBA
•Experience of using web portals (using https)
•Experience of Windows IIS
•Working knowledge of Windows Server 2008, 2012, 2016
•Proficient on MS Excel + VBA
•Experience of MS Visual Studio -. ASP.net, C#
•Analytical and commercial experience, including experience of management information reporting, and an understanding of business challenges & approach
Personal Attributes
•Excellent attention to detail and experience in troubleshooting and resolving problems
•Ability to cope under pressure and prioritize workload to meet pre-agreed deadlines.
•Practical understanding of working in a multi-project environment, including project planning and implementation.
•Excellent communication skills at all levels (both written and verbal)
Qualifications
•A relevant computing/coding qualification, degree or relevant experience
Terms & Conditions
Full Time - 37 hours per week
Salary £40,000-£50,000 per annum, depending on experience
Holidays – 25 days per annum plus statutory holidays (pro rata)
