Job Summary
We are thrilled to announce that the launch of our Community Diagnostic Centre in West Swindon is on the horizon (Jan 2025) and we are looking to expand our gastroenterology team. The successful candidate will work across dual sites between the Great Western Hospital and the CDC, leading a multidisciplinary team of consultants, SAS doctors and junior staff.
Main Duties
* Use the latest Olympus scopes and equipment for both sites.
* Perform ERCP, EUS, BCSP Small Bowel Capsule endoscopy, oesophageal dilatation, and conduct one GA list per month.
* Plan and commence oesophageal stenting, currently handled in radiology, to be incorporated into the gastroenterology screening lists.
* Develop and lead subspecialty interests in Nutrition, IBD or Hepatology and collaborate on upper GI and HPB cancer management with John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford.
* Work closely with pathology, radiology, surgeons and allied MDT members.

Job Responsibilities
* Multidisciplinary team working: participate in regular MDT discussions and provide evidence‑based care for patients.
* Continue responsibility for the care of patients in your charge, including all administrative duties associated with patient care (with secretarial support).
Person Specification – Essential Qualifications
* Fully registered with the GMC.
* CCT (or equivalent for non‑UK applicants) and being on the GMC Specialist Register in the specialty appropriate for this consultant post at the time of appointment, or within 6 months of CCT at interview.
* MRCP (UK) / MRCP (Gastroenterology) or equivalent.
* CESR (Gastroenterology).
Person Specification – Clinical Experience
* Clinical training/experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT.
* Expertise in the full range of gastrointestinal conditions.
* Ability to lead a multi‑professional team and take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients.
* Sub‑speciality interests will be supported.
Person Specification – Management & Administration
* Demonstrable ability to manage priorities.
* Demonstrable multi‑disciplinary team leadership skills.
* Experience of audit and management.
* Flexible approach to work organisation; Ability to lead project teams.
