About the role If you are looking for a hotel with something different and some history to work in, then The Odney Hotel, our Place by the River could be for you. This is a beautiful and unique John Lewis Partnership owned hotel, set in 130 acres by the River Thames in Cookham, Berkshire. It offers both character and charm to our guests. The guests can stay in one of 5 beautiful houses on the site, each maintaining the period look of it’s time with access to the picturesque grounds including a private stretch of river, water gardens, a pool and sports facilities. The main building Lullebrook Manor and it’s grounds are thought to have been the inspiration for the classic novel The Wind in The Willows bringing history along with relaxation. Relaxation can be further achieved with a visit to our Serenity Spa, offering beauty treatments and massages or afternoon tea on the terrace, a drink in the bar or a meal overlooking the river. Act in accordance with the Partnership’s purpose and democratic principles, constructively participating in co-ownership, and demonstrating to customers and each other that it is a better way of doing business. Share your knowledge, experiences, ideas and opinion to improve the Partnership, speaking honestly and frequently. ● Being a brand ambassador by being a warm and friendly Partner who provides a consistently outstanding customer experience that is unrivalled in the marketplace. ● Performing routine building maintenance tasks such as repairing faulty door locks and window latches, changing light bulbs and the repairing of furniture. ● Completing preventative maintenance such as Legionella water checks, air filter changes, fire alarm and smoke detector checks, ladder checks and record keeping for Health and Safety and Compliance. ● Reactive and minor maintenance ● On call overnight on a rota basis - On call and standby compensation will be paid. This can also be voluntary where full cover in the team is available. ● All work undertaken is carried out in a safe manner abiding to health and safety legislation. ● Escalate all safety risks by communicating and updating information at appropriate levels. ● Provide advice to the Maintenance lead, general manager and department managers on progress of works. ● Evaluate new work and quotations with a view to undertaking work in house if cost effective. ● Ensuring that any potential hazards are taken care of. ● Ensuring daily pool checks are completed and chemical levels are correct for safe use. ● Supporting the implementation of changes to ensure continuous innovations and improvements are madewithin the department. ● Experience in fault finding.
