Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Laboratory Manager to join our Global Performance Materials Engineering team. This role involves managing the qualification of Heat Shrink Products, supporting OEM testing, application validation, automotive compliance, NPI projects, and sustaining activities.
As a leader, you will set high laboratory standards, manage cross-functional collaboration, and drive improvements in efficiency, quality, and compliance.
Your Main Tasks
* Lead the qualification of Heat Shrink Products annually, ensuring compliance with standards.
* Support testing for OEM, application development, automotive requirements, and NPI/sustaining projects.
* Communicate effectively with local and global teams, reporting to the Functional Leader, Laboratories.
* Work cross-functionally with departments including Global Laboratories, Engineering, Operations, and Marketing.
* Build and lead a high-performing laboratory team through leadership, coaching, and empowerment.
* Define and document laboratory standards, processes, and training programs.
* Identify, propose, and implement new technologies to improve efficiency and test repeatability.
* Analyze test data, generate reports, and identify opportunities for improvement.
* Maintain communication with external test facilities and stakeholders.
* Generate and deliver monthly performance reports and develop corrective actions.
* Collaborate with NPI and Sustaining teams on testing methodologies.
* Develop and maintain standard work procedures, risk assessments, and compliance documentation.
* Engage with local teams to ensure lab operations align with manufacturing.
Your Ideal Background
* Bachelor’s or Master’s in Materials Science, Engineering, Chemistry, or related.
* 5-8 years in laboratory operations, with 2-3 years in leadership.
* Strong knowledge of heat shrink materials, automotive standards, and testing protocols.
* Experience leading teams and managing projects.
* Skills in data analysis, reporting, and continuous improvement.
* Familiarity with quality systems, risk assessments, and safety standards.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work globally.
* Proficiency in lab tools, software, and statistics.
