Calibration Laboratory Technician (Spectroscopist UV-VIS) Ilford, Essex, IG6 3UT Full time, permanent Salary: £24,500 – £27,000 Please Note: Applicants must be authorised to work in the UK Starna Scientific is a world leader in the production and calibration of Certified Reference Materials (CRMs) for analytical spectroscopy. With UKAS accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 17034, our calibration laboratory is globally recognised for its precision and excellence. Our CRMs underpin the quality control systems in regulated labs around the world, ensuring analytical confidence in industries such as pharmaceuticals, food & beverage, environmental testing, chemicals, and life sciences. The Role As Calibration Laboratory Technician you will have a strong background in spectroscopy and analytical chemistry. Under the supervision of the Calibration Laboratory Manager, you will be responsible for the preparation and certification of our expanding range of CRMs, contributing to the accuracy and reliability of laboratory standards globally, operating within ISO17025/17034 accredited frameworks. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and certify Certified Reference Materials (CRMs) to meet international standards Operate within ISO 17025 and ISO 17034 accredited frameworks Apply spectroscopy techniques and analytical chemistry expertise in daily operations Collaborate with the Calibration Laboratory Manager and team to meet goals Manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively in a busy laboratory environment Maintain accurate job cards and documentation, supports audit activities and is able to keep rigorous records Clear communication skills across all levels Support team members and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing work culture About You BSc in Chemistry, Analytical Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience or a professional qualification in laboratory sciences Experience or knowledge in spectroscopy and a skill in calibration measurements, with meticulous attention to detail Excellent problem-solving and strategic thinking abilities Clear and precise communication skills, both written and verbal Ability to manage time effectively and adapt to shifting priorities Team-oriented with a proactive and flexible approach A willingness to learn and follow protocols, to maintain compliance culture Benefits Working at Starna means joining a pioneering team with a global impact.
