Job Description
* To provide business support to the Community Development & Equalities Team through the day-to-day operation and delivery of the team’s objectives that include those related to the administration of the Corporate Volunteer Programme and grants programmes.
Requirements
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. • Able to deal politely, communicate clearly and accurately with a wide range of people at all levels and give advice within specific guidelines. • High standard of written and verbal skills. • Ability to act on own initiative and be able to recognise the priority of the workload within changing timescales and parameters. • Good IT skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint • Ability to use own initiative and manage own workload. • Ability to maintain diary and filing systems including archiving and information management. • Ability to record and transcribe minutes. • Ability to undertake research using a range of reference sources including the Internet and summarise findings accurately. • General knowledge of local government and the way in which it serves the community. • Understanding of the local community and voluntary sector in Thurrock. • Demonstrable administrative experience. • Experience of working with a wide range of computer-based systems. • Experience of working in local government / public sector. • Experience of supporting grant administration. • Committed to personal development. • Flexible in approach and attitude. • Able to maintain absolute confidentiality. • An understanding of the principals of Equal Opportunities and compliance with the council’s policies.
