Position Purpose:
Steel Fabricators play a key role in our manufacturing team building high-quality metal components to service our packaging requirements projects. As a steel fabricator, you will be responsible for reading and interpreting engineering drawings, fabricating metal components or structures, and performing quality checks on finished products. You may also be required to set up fabricating machines and design custom templates.
Ultimately, a top-class metal fabricator expertly constructs high-quality products to exact specifications. In this role you are expected to maintain company standards within training, working practices and processes, Health & Safety and continue improvement, not only as an individual but in a team environment.
Main Outcomes of the Position:
* Complete work allocated to company standards.
* Maintain delivery of quality products to scheduled department/Delivery dates.
* Assemble & fabricate using MIG welding process, parts/products using tools/equipment according to specifications in manufacturing environment.
* Work with other departments to problem solve.
* Use of individual training platform will facilitate personal growth.
* Ensures that the working environment is safe, and housekeeping is to a high standard
Key responsibilities:
* Read, interpret, follow engineering drawings & ensure implementation according to weld procedure specification (WPS)
* Work within & according to health & safety guidelines to maintain personal and others safety.
* Competent in utilizing various hand & power tools.
* Competent in operating measuring tools such as tape measures, weld gauges etc.
* Work to process, incorporating SSOW’s/Quality standards.
* Competent in Jig and in MIG fabrication processes.
* Assemble packaging solutions using various fixings/material types.
* Finish assemblies to consistent quality standards ready finishing processes.
* Re-work existing products to produce new forms of packaging solutions.
* Periodically check all equipment is maintained to high standards and report issues.
* Evaluate materials/parts etc. before activities carried out and on completion of assemblies conform to quality checks. Report via NCR if any issues.
* Maintain clean & safe working environment.
* Comply with clock procedures to comply with company processes.
* Be flexible to perform duties throughout other departments.
* Engage in personal development programs/Training.
* Operate within individual & team environment maintaining work ethics individually and alongside other team members.
* Ownership/Identification of all fabrication (Marking/Labelling of assemblies manufactured)
* Communication between line manager/colleagues.
Requirements:
* Minimum 2 years’ experience as MIG Welder/Fabricator
* Coded or able to pass coding of company requirements
* Complete all relevant department certification, Manual etc.
* Able to work within company Health & Safety guidelines
