Overview
Associate Lecturer/Lecturer - Biomedical Sciences, Rural at UNSW Rural (Port Macquarie campus). Part-time, 21 - 28 hours per week (0.6 – 0.8 FTE, negotiable). Fixed-term contract until 30 June 2027. Remuneration: Academic Level A or Level B $91,381 - $127,947 per annum, pro-rata, plus 17% superannuation and leave loading. Visa sponsorship is not available; applicants must have full rights to work in Australia. Location: Port Macquarie, NSW.
Responsibilities
* Deliver and contribute to teaching in biomedical sciences and laboratory management for the undergraduate medical course at the RCC.
* Set up and pack down laboratory activities; resolve technical issues; maintain equipment; ensure laboratory compliance, safety records, inventories, and documentation.
* Provide quality technical support to ensure smooth operation of the laboratory environment.
* Demonstrate interest in rural health education to support local hospital and community health outcomes.
* Support the Director of Medical Education at the campus and collaborate with colleagues across teaching and learning communities.
Qualifications and Skills
* An MBBS, BMed, or undergraduate degree in a relevant medical sciences field, or a PhD with relevant experience; strong teaching credentials in biomedical sciences are preferred.
* Active engagement in ongoing disciplinary knowledge, technical expertise, and professional development of teaching practice.
* Experience in biomedical sciences teaching with a focus on rurally focused education.
* Ability to teach core biomedical components (anatomy, physiology, genetics, immunology, biochemistry, histology, pharmacology, cell/molecular biology, microbiology, research methods and statistics).
* Experience in laboratory management, regulatory compliance, safety management, and equipment maintenance; ability to coordinate servicing and use UNSW resourcing systems.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills; capacity for mentoring students and interacting with a diverse academic community.
