Overview

We have exciting band 5 staff nurses opportunities across our off-site Satellite dialysis Units within Cambridge University Hospital NHS Trust. The sites are:

* Cambridge Dialysis centre - CDC - based at Fen Ditton Cambridge.
* Kings Lynn Dialysis Unit based at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, kings Lynn,
* Hinchingbrooke dialysis Unit based at Hinchingbrooke hospital.
* West Suffolk Dialysis Unit based at West Suffolk hospital

The largest of these satellite dialysis units, Cambridge dialysis centre, serves the Cambridgeshire and surrounding area caring for Chronic Haemodialysis dependent patients. This unit consists of 36 dialysis stations, dialysing patients Monday through Saturday from 07.00 hours until 23.30 hours. Twilight shifts run Monday, Wednesday, Friday.

The nurses at this unit further provide staffing to the Acute 6 bedded unit on ward C5 at the main hospital, which includes providing an on-call service from 02.00hrs until 07.30 hours and Sundays all day. Please note for candidates applying to this unit that there is the added requirement to cover and provide support for this on-call service and within the acute dialysis once trained and competent to do so.

The Kings Lynn dialysis unit has 17 dialysis stations and dialyses patients Monday through Saturday from 07.00 hours until 23.30 hours. Twilight shifts running 6 days per week.

The Hinchingbrooke Dialysis unit has 20 dialysis stations and dialyses patients Monday through Saturday from 06.30 and until 23.00. Twilight shifts running Monday, Wednesday, Friday. Part time hours only available at this unit.

The West Suffolk Dialysis unit has 12 dialysis stations and dialyses patients Monday through Saturday from 07.00 hours until 23.30 hours. Please note currently the vacancies here are for a fixed term/ secondment maternity leave cover.

Successful candidates need to be good team members with evidence of good communication and organisational skills. You must be an NMC registered nurse with an active PIN. Recent experience of caring for haemodialysis patients in the chronic and/or acute care setting is beneficial and evidence of clinical practice in an acute setting is essential. Intravenous medication competencies and active ILS are advantageous, and completion/evidence of a preceptorship are beneficial.

This vacancy is for Registered Nurses with full NMC registration and experience is acute settings. If you are an internationally trained nurse that has not passed their OSCE (objective structured clinical examination), you will not be considered for this role.

For NHS Cambridgeshire and Peterborough based roles, all applicants from NHS Cambridgeshire and Peterborough who have identified that they are at risk of redundancy will be prioritised over those not at risk. However, interviews cannot be guaranteed.
