Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Associate Manager to join our hospitality team at The Cross Guns at Avoncliff, recently acquired by the local Iford Manor Estate forming one of 3 hospitality venues in the group.
Serving pints since the 1600s, this is a stunning historic pub with oak beams, open fire and a HUGE pub garden heading down to the banks of the River Avon. A charming hamlet, with a strong community feel, Avoncliff is an idyllic place to be based.
With no through roads in the hamlet, the pub is situated below the Kennet & Avon canal and above the River Avon, with GWR Avoncliff station on the other side of the river. Visitors therefore typically reach the pub by train, bike, on foot, paddleboard, kayak, narrowboat etc. In the summer months it is very busy as everyone makes a mecca to this known beauty spot, making a perfect pint. The winter months are quieter but will be busy next year once the kitchen refit is completed this winter and we can then offer a strong year-round food provision.
This is a LIVE-IN position and your accommodation would be the flat on the top floor (2nd floor) of the pub. It is a large one-bed flat with its own living room, kitchen and bathroom; complete with stunning views across the valley.
The pub is currently only operating on the ground floor, but there are exciting plans to extend the operational area to the 1st floor as well. The successful candidate will have opportunities to grow in this role as the capacity, direction and profile of the pub expand to make the most of this beautiful building and setting.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, extensive pub and kitchen experience, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service. This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee daily operations, supervise staff, and ensure the highest standards of food safety and quality are maintained, as well as acting as building supervisor. The successful applicant will have a background in food preparation, cooking, and team management within a fast-paced environment, such as pubs, hotels, or bars.
