Job overview
We have an opportunity to join the Dermatology Department at LTHTR as a Locum Consultant Dermatologist. The post will be initially a fixed-term 12-month contract based on 8 PA's, with the potential for long term extension. This will be based in our Dermatology Department at Chorley and South Ribble Hospital. You will be part of the provision of a specialised Dermatology Service to the local population and supported by experienced Medical, Specialist Nurse, and Nursing colleagues. This is a comprehensive service, utilising our full range of diagnostic and therapeutic facilities and delivering as much of the service locally as possible, minimising inconvenience to patients and ensuring ease of access. The role includes adult clinics (general dermatology patients and 2-week referrals), a weekly theatre session (primary closures), adult and paediatric ward referrals. The Dermatology Unit has excellent links with the Plastic Surgery Department, situated within the Trust.
Main duties of the job
Provide direct care to patients; contribute where appropriate to multi-disciplinary teams and take part in the co-ordination of care for patients within CDH and RPH. Take an active role, in conjunction with colleagues, in the planning, development and delivery of the Dermatology Service for the Directorate. Assume a continuous commitment for the care of patients, even if employed less than full-time, and ensure that adequate arrangements are made for leave and off duty periods. Promote high professional standards of clinical care for patients, both through direct patient care and by the maintenance of continuing professional development. Continue to maintain links with General Practitioners operating in the area. Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
