Desktop Support Engineer
Contract: 6 months initially
Location: Onsite - Leiston, Suffolk
Rate: £200 - £250 per day (via Umbrella company)

Role Overview
The Desktop Support IT Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of organizational computer systems by providing technical assistance and support to Windows Server SMEs and users. The primary objective is to diagnose and resolve technical issues promptly, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity. You will also be involved in the implementation and maintenance of IT infrastructure to meet operational and project needs.
Key Responsibilities
1. Troubleshooting and resolving issues related to networks, applications, software, hardware, VPNs, printers, and mobile phones.
2. Managing incident queues and handling calls with customers and VIP users.
3. Vendor management and timely response to incidents.
4. Recording and documenting incident tickets.
5. Monitoring phones, emails, and Microsoft Teams chat for incidents.
6. Managing Windows 10 devices (Microsoft Managed Devices).
7. Technical troubleshooting and resolution of issues in Windows 10 OS.
8. Antivirus management (Defender/McAfee).
9. Device movement and setup, including unpacking and re-packaging laptops/desktops.
10. Creating technical documentation, reports, and manuals.
11. Building and deploying workstations with standard images.
12. Providing Tech-Bar support for user queries.
13. Hardware asset and asset management.
14. IT desk moves, patching, and setup of meeting rooms and loan laptops.
15. Managing IT equipment retirement and disposal.
16. Supporting printers, including consumable replacement.
17. Managing Active Directory groups, account unlocks, and password resets.
Key Skills & Experience
1. Experience troubleshooting Windows 10 OS issues.
2. Knowledge of configuring Starlink satellite network devices.
3. Experience configuring iPhone/iPad devices.
4. Creating and deleting IDs on Azure portal for joiners, leavers, movers.
5. Knowledge of Microsoft Teams administration.
6. L1 support experience with applications and SharePoint.
7. Effective communication skills.
8. Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
9. Customer service experience.
10. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
11. Self-motivated with a willingness to learn.
12. Ability to work independently on multiple tasks.
13. Excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
14. Understanding of virtualization, Intune administration, and supporting conference room devices.
15. Knowledge of cloud printing and asset inventory management.
16. Experience with Microsoft Managed Desktop environment support.
17. ITIL certifications or process knowledge.
