Applications are invited for the post of Mental Health Practitioner in the Directorate of Student Life at Royal Holloway University of London.
This is a part time 0.8 FTE role available immediately. There is the opportunity for some hybrid working but with a need for campus-based days (approx. 5 out of 8) required to support current demand for in-person student appointments.
The role holder will work as part of the multi-disciplinary mental health & wellbeing teams within the Directorate of Student Life and will contribute to the positive impact teams have on student mental health and wellbeing, experience, and student retention. The team of Counsellors and Mental Health Practitioners also work collaboratively with the Runnymede CMHRS and other NHS services.
The role holder will be required to have a mental health qualification and strong relevant experience of working in a multi-disciplinary mental health setting. Mental Health Practitioners provide triage, non-clinical assessment and support to Royal Holloway students who may be exploring mental health challenges or diagnosis who require support in the primary care setting. Each team member maintains a small caseload of students with short term therapeutic support needs and will also refer cases on to Talking Therapies, GPs, specialist services and internal student support services. Role holders will need to maintain effective relationships with external agencies across the NHS and voluntary sectors and act as a contact for the effective referral of individual students to and from these agencies.
In addition to working with students the MHPs also deliver psychoeducational workshops and lead, as required, projects or training with at the university to foster greater mental wellbeing and understanding of mental health amongst the student community.
