This is a great opportunity to join our dedicated QSSHE team at Perenco, where you will be responsible for delivering the Occupational Hygiene program.
The primary focus of this position is the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of workplace health risks across Perenco UK operations in the Southern North Sea. Continual improvement and standardisation of monitoring, auditing, and reporting systems are core components of this role. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with statutory provisions, codes of practice, and industry guidelines, while promoting a positive approach to workplace health risks.
This position is based in our Norwich office, working Monday to Friday, with some travel to offshore and onshore sites as needed.
Key Responsibilities Include:
1. Work with medic/HSEA’s and operational teams to review Health Risk Assessments, identifying hazard categories, hazards, health impacts, routes of entry, and required exposure monitoring/health surveillance programs.
2. Deliver occupational hygiene plans related to exposures and health risks from chemical, physical, biological, psychosocial, and ergonomic factors, including but not limited to:
* Hazardous Substance Management and COSHH risk assessments
* Chemical workplace exposure monitoring (e.g., natural gas condensate – benzene and aromatic hydrocarbons like toluene, xylene)
* Mercury, lead, chromium (III & VI), solvents, cement-based products, welding fumes, toxic gases
* Asbestos Management and surveys, registers, material assessments, and risk scores
* Noise and vibration management, surveys, and exposure assessments
* Radiation management and assessments
* Thermal hazard assessment
* Potable water management
* Communicable diseases, mould & spores, animal/insect hazards, DSE, fatigue
• Recommend and design control strategies.
• Monitor and evaluate control measures such as LEV/PPE/RPE testing and inspections.
• Deliver occupational hygiene training (e.g., asbestos awareness, dust procedures, PPE/RPE use and maintenance).
• Conduct assurance processes, including inspections and audits, covering all operational sites, including accommodation, welfare, and food areas.
• Maintain calibration systems for occupational hygiene equipment.
Key Requirements Include:
* Occupational Hygienist working towards or holding a BOHS Certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene, via a qualifying BOHS-accredited degree or a combination of BOHS W & P modules.
* At least 2 years of experience in occupational hygiene, with knowledge of measurement techniques.
* Drive and passion to champion occupational hygiene and workplace health risks, influencing management and staff.
* Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting effectively in various forums and mediums.
* Ability to meet deadlines and produce high-quality work within set timeframes.
