The Role
An exciting opportunity for a Capability Lead - Transport and Logistics has arisen within the Australian Capability team. Our nuclear business is a leader in propulsion system design and development for the Royal Navy's nuclear submarine fleet and the sole provider and technical authority, managing all aspects of plant design, safety, manufacture, performance, and through-life support.
Our customers are embarking on programmes of national and strategic importance, and our goal is to provide them with the right advice and support to establish world-class and nuclear-safe capabilities.
As a Capability Lead - Transport and Logistics you will be providing advice and support to our customers to facilitate the safe and efficient transport of components required in the construction or maintenance of the Nuclear Steam Raising Plant in Australia. This includes evaluating methods of transport, the necessary storage and packaging required to protect all of our products including supporting our customers with preparing for high risk activities.
This role offers a rare opportunity working across various UK sites, engaging across the CADMID cycle and interfacing with multiple industrial partners on an exciting and historically significant project, with the potential for international travel.

What you will be doing:
Key Accountabilities will include:
* Provide direction and expert advice on transport and logistics strategies for the safe movement of components related to the Nuclear Steam Raising Plant.
* Evaluate, select, and recommend optimal methods for transport, packaging and storage of high-value and sensitive equipment.
* Facilitate engagement and build consensus among diverse stakeholders across industry and government on logistics requirements, interfacing with component teams, our planning and control and logistics functions and other subject matter experts.
* Provide advice and support to our customers relating to non-proliferation and internationally regulated matters which impact our products.
* Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to ensure the customer's needs across the CADMID cycle are understood, documented and considered in our plans.
* Manage ambiguity and resolve conflicts arising from complex, evolving transport and logistical challenges in a highly regulated environment.

To be successful in this role you will need to meet the following criteria:
* A degree or equivalent professional qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a relevant field
* Demonstrable experience in transport and logistics, preferably with specific experience in movement of products classified as Class 7 Carriage of Dangerous Goods.
* Proven track record of successfully engaging with stakeholders across government and industry to achieve consensus in complex logistical scenarios.
* Demonstrated capability in managing ambiguity, problem-solving at a strategic as well as tactical/operational level and delivering under challenging and uncertain conditions.
* Knowledge and understanding of national and international nuclear safety requirements, transportation regulations and relevant standards.
