An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in a well-established Same Day Access service for Weymouth and Portland Primary Care Network (PCN).

The service aims to manage acute on-the-day demand, working with a defined number of conditions which has been steadily increasing since the commencement of the service in 2023.

Interviews are planned to take place on 23rd and 25th June.


Main duties of the job

The role involves delivering face-to-face appointments. The clinicians providing the PCN Same Day Access Service will work together from the same site, with support available from a duty GP as needed.

This role is ideally suited to Paramedics, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, and enhanced nurses.

There is scope for development within the role, including non-medical prescribing, IRMER training, FCP roadmap to practice, and triage.

Job responsibilities

* Assessing patients face-to-face
* Undertaking immediately necessary investigations, e.g., blood tests, ECG, urine samples
* Advising on the need for further investigations, e.g., chest x-ray
* Being autonomous in clinical decision-making
* Having an awareness of when and how to seek senior review
* Formulating a management plan in partnership with the patient
* Supporting the ongoing development and expansion of the Same Day Access Service
* Access to regular clinical supervision


Person Specification


Qualifications

* HCPC registered Paramedic or NMC registered Nurse or Nurse Practitioner


Experience

* Experience in dealing with a wide range of conditions that may present daily
* Enhanced clinical examination skills
* Paramedics should have completed their two-year Consolidation of Learning period as a newly qualified paramedic and have a further three years of experience as a band 6 (or equivalent) paramedic


Personal Qualities

* Motivated, hard-working, with good communication skills and able to work well as part of a team


Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975, and it will be necessary to submit for a Disclosure to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Depending on experience, starting salary £18.73 an hour.
