ABOUT THE ROLE The Trainee Cheesemaker will be learning how to make our many award-winning organic cheeses (hard, soft, rind-washed, blue) from our expert Head Cheesemaker, Peter Kindel. They will be working towards become independent in cheese production methods, but also to become proficient in all other areas of Creamery production, including the skills of affinage (cheese maturing), pasteurisation, and yoghurt, butter and kefir production. SALARY: 13.25 per hour HOURS: 40 Hours Monday - Friday ( 6am Starts) RESPONSIBILITIES Assist with the daily transfer and pasteurisation of milk into the Creamery Assist the Head Cheesemaker during cheese-makes Work in our cheese aging-rooms turning and caring for our maturing cheeses Work with the Head Cheesemaker in troubleshooting recipes/inconsistencies with the products as needed Keep detailed records in order to fulfil the business's due diligence and traceability requirements Maintain the entire work area in a clean and sanitary condition and follow all safety procedures Work efficiently to ensure that all daily orders are completed at a fulfilment rate of 98% or above Always show an eagerness to learn and develop, taking pride in your work and never overlook poor standards Be open, honest and tolerant of others Have a positive, 'can do' attitude Assist with the production of all Creamery products where required, including milk, butter, kefir and yoghurt Always be clean, smart and neatly presented Highlight Health and Safety matters to your line manager Attend training courses when requested Be reliable and punctual on shift, as well as flexible in work availability/shift patterns Comply with the production unit's internal audit requirements Execute all products as per company specifications Execute all food preparation in a timely and professional manner Adhere to the standards set out by the Soil Association Ensure all work areas are clean and tidy at all times Be proactive in assisting your team member colleagues Always promote a positive image of Daylesford Organic Always work as a strong ambassador for the Daylesford brand Bring our purpose to life by driving meaningful social and environmental improvements, contributing to our journey as a B Corp, and aligning with our sustainability vision.
