Laing O'Rourke / Expanded are currently recruiting for a Site Engineer to work on our substation project in Margam.

We have been appointed to deliver vital network upgrade works at Margam substation in Port Talbot, Wales, for National Grid. The project is a key step inenabling green steel production at Port Talbot and in supporting local jobs, while also providing capacity for future energy connections in the region.

National Grid will be working with principal contractor Laing O'Rourke to build the two new GIS facilities, both using innovativeswitchgear technology which is free fromsulphur hexafluoride(SF6) – a commonly used electrical insulator that is also a potent greenhouse gas.

Role & Responsibilities:

* Setting out, understanding of equipment limitations and methods
* Interpret as-built information
* Provides guidance to less experience staff
* Completes QA documentation and record keeping
* Implements ITP requirements
* Production of method statements or understanding of how they are produced
* Temporary works understanding and if applicable take on the role of a TWS/TWC (Temporary works coordinator) – You do not have to be a certified TWC
* Understanding of materials and plant including call off schedules
* Aware of site HS&E procedures

Requirements:

* Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or equivalent
* 2+ years' UK experience working on infrastructure projects
* Eligible to work in the UK / valid UK visa (this role will not provide sponsorship)
* Valid UK Driving license & vehicle
