Job Summary
East Kent University NHS Foundation Trust (EKHUFT) invites applications for an Assistant Technical Officer to join the Aseptic Team. The role involves working inside cleanrooms, dispensing, and supporting the Aseptic Unit which provides chemotherapy across three hospital sites and the mobile unit.
Responsibilities
* Dispense stock products to patients using the CMM system.
* Assemble and prepare aseptic products under the supervision of technical staff.
* Take part in training future colleagues and Pre‑Registration Pharmacists, ensuring they understand and perform duties according to procedures and GMP.
* Clean and monitor isolators and cleanrooms, documenting all work.
* Transfer disinfection of all items into the aseptic rooms and isolators, maintaining validations for this process.
* Attend courses and undertake identified training to develop aseptic skills.
* Contribute to quality development and continuous improvement of unit processes.
* Unpack deliveries, participate in stock control and counting.
* Manage workload based on patient priority.
* Maintain wide range documentation.
* Pack and distribute finished treatments to the correct destinations following local SOPs.
* Answer the hatch and phone to visitors and other Health Care Staff.
Qualifications
Essential
* GCSE grade 4‑9 in Maths and English or equivalent.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills, including diplomacy and awareness of others.
* Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise work and manage time effectively.
* Ability to work with constant interruptions and maintain attention to detail and accuracy.
* Good IT skills and knowledge of the CMM computer system.
* Upholds and models Trust Values.
Desirable
* NVQ2 in Pharmacy Services or evidence of meeting GMP Standards.
* Knowledge of CMM computer system.
* Previous hospital experience.
* Willingness to be flexible to service needs.
Other Information
Pay: £24,465 per annum (Band 2).
Contract: Permanent, Full‑time, Flexible working.
Location: Kent & Canterbury Hospital, Ethelbert Road, Canterbury, CT5 4EH.
