Role Characteristics:

Hinkley Point C is the UK’s first new build nuclear power station in a generation that is critical to the UK NetZero targets.

All roles on the project require key behaviours which support the Zero Harm objective, a questioning attitude, and drive to uphold the standards of safety and quality required by this prestigious project. A committed strong work ethic is essential at all levels.

All candidates are expected to demonstrate their knowledge and experience where possible directly related to the criteria required for the role. It is acknowledged that previous Nuclear based experience will not always be possible, as such supporting with project research and how individual skills may be transferable will be important.

Accountabilities:

The Duty Construction Manager (DCM) is a key position accountable for ensuring that all weekend construction, test & commissioning, logistics, and maintenance works within the Common Building Services (CBS) scope are delivered safely, compliantly, and productively. Acting as the senior point of contact for Dalkia over weekends, this role requires a strong site presence, proactive coordination with contractors and clients, and effective handovers to maintain continuity across shifts.

The days that the DCM is required on site (HPC) are Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday.

The DCM will be part of the CBS Senior Delivery Team (SDT), consisting of the Construction Manager (CM), a Senior Project Manager (SPM), and a Head of CBS Maintenance, all reporting into the Dalkia New Nuclear Construction Director.

The DCM will receive a Hand Over from the Dalkia CM & the Head of CBS Maintenance on each Friday and conduct a Hand Over back to them on each Monday.

This role requires a split of 50% out on site and 50% in the office and meetings.

The DCM will manage the effective Site Delivery of the CBS Scope over the weekend, ensuring working to Health and Safety Standards and Procedures, Quality Arrangements, and to Schedule & Cost.

The DCM will respond to and lead any emergency or emergent situation, ranging from accidents and investigations, to managing Blackouts or Outages in multiple areas across the site.

The role of the DCM over each weekend includes, but is not limited to, the following aspects:

* Main Point of Contact for Construction
* Lead the Team of Construction Superintendents & Supervisors:
* Lead the Maintenance, Modification & Adaptations Team
* Lead the CBS Commissioning
* Lead the Logistics Team
* Support the Dalkia Lifting Logistics Team
* Support the Senior Authorised Person (SAP) & Authorised Persons (AP’s) Team,
* Support the Dalkia Senior Lead Team (SLT)
* Key member of the CBS Senior Delivery Team (SDT) and the Dalkia HPC Senior Management Team (SMT).
* Lead on all Dalkia’s Site Activities on the regular Shift Pattern of Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday.
* Ensure an accurate and concise Hand Over is received from the Dalkia CM & the Head of CBS Maintenance on each Friday and conduct an accurate and concise Hand Over back to SDT on each Monday.
* Lead and manage all aspects of the CBS Construction Delivery team in solving complex construction, installation, and logistic challenges through systematic approach to planned and organized construction project plans during shift pattern.
* Plan, Lead and execute all Maintenance, Modifications and Adaptations activities over the weekend, ensuring continuity of work faces.
* Understand every aspect of the project contract and plan and act as a leader regarding Construction and Installation systems.
* Ensure Construction Team attendance to the NNB (CDM) Meeting Cadence ( PLOW’s & PLOD’s) to enable work activities to take place in the various building on HPC, in accordance with the NNB Area Model.
* Implementation of performance monitoring and reporting including contribution to regular monthly dashboard preparation with real time KPI’s. (Level 4, 3 & 2 Dalkia Reporting Boards)
* Ensure Quality Control processes are being followed in the field, prior, during and at the end of all installation activities (ITP’s ITF’s) – Control any Internal NCRs associated with installed Systems.

Success Indicators

* Zero harm incidents during duty shift
* All works completed or controlled to plan
* Effective stakeholder relationships and a consistently positive representation of Dalkia
* Clear, traceable handover with no loss of continuity
* Compliance with project procedures and electrical safety

Minimum Qualifications/ Experience

One from the following:

* Degree-Level Education or equivalent qualifications (HNC) in construction -related fields:
* Construction Management
* Civil Engineering
* Quantity Surveying
* Level 4 or Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Construction Site Management
* Apprenticeship – Higher or degree level Apprenticeship in construction management
* SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme), CSCS Black Card, or JIB Card

Additionally-

* Relevant health and safety qualification -CCNSG / HSE MAPS (Essential)

Additional Qualifications/ Experience:

* CIOB Chartered Membership (MCIOB) – Awarded by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), this demonstrates professional competence.
* NEBOSH Construction Certificate – A health and safety qualification valued in the construction sector.
* Experience in site supervision, project management, or construction engineering.
* Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations, building codes, and project management principles.
* Proficiency in construction software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, or Asta Powerproject).
* Understanding of Nuclear Site Licence Conditions.
