Job Description: Solution Architect
The Solution Architect is responsible for defining and assuring the solution architecture for projects and initiatives. This role involves high-level design, detailed design assurance, and supporting the development and implementation of solutions through all environments to production.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Exploring potential solution options and making clear recommendations based on business needs, enterprise architecture, feasibility, cost, risk, benefits, and support implications.
2. Guiding vendor and product selection to ensure alignment with project needs and long-term business strategies.
3. Defining, owning, and maintaining cross-functional solution architecture, including integrations and data.
4. Collaborating with business stakeholders, analysts, product managers, engineers, and delivery teams.
5. Analyzing options, reviewing third-party designs, and ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, cost-effective, and future-proof.
6. Working with the Enterprise Architect to align with IT and business strategies, standards, and architecture.
7. Leading vendor selection, assisting with planning and estimation, and ensuring solution delivery as designed.
8. Challenging existing ideas and continuously improving architecture processes and artifacts.
9. Ensuring all activities are performed to high standards with minimal risk, and opportunities for improvement are acted upon.
Qualifications and experience required include:
1. Experience in omni-channel retail organizations or management consultancies, covering domains like Digital, POS, and Order Management.
2. Familiarity with packaged and bespoke applications across stores, commerce, and payment & fraud systems.
3. Ability to communicate complex ideas simply to senior stakeholders.
4. Knowledge of modeling tools, delivery lifecycles, and architecture aspects (business, application, data, technology, integrations).
5. Strong analytical, strategic, and problem-solving skills, with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
6. Proactive, resilient, detail-oriented, and commercially aware.
7. Experience or desire to move into line management.
