Overview
Our national commercial team brings together our general commercial, digital, IP, energy and renewables, projects, and procurement teams. Representing an impressive range of FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 clients, public sector organizations, educational institutions, and industry bodies, the team plays a vital role in helping clients build growth and success. It comprises sector specialists across industries including advanced manufacturing, life sciences, aerospace and defence, energy and renewables, transport and logistics, and international trade. Our lawyers are based across UK offices and include nationally recognized leaders. The team collaborates with US colleagues on international projects and with global member firms, providing a blend of City presence and local knowledge for foreign investors in the UK.
Opportunity
We are seeking a 3+ to senior PQE commercial contracts lawyer to join our team to support our pipeline of projects.
What does the team do?
We advise on contractual arrangements related to strategic projects and daily business across various industries, with a focus on supporting advanced manufacturing, life sciences, energy transition, and decarbonisation projects. Our work includes procurement, supply chain management, product development, and routes to market. The role involves advising on contract strategy, drafting, negotiation, data protection (with support from privacy specialists), and risk management.
What is it like to work here?
Join a diverse team that values support, creativity, and innovative delivery of legal advice. You will work closely with clients' in-house legal teams, providing in-house style support for businesses without internal lawyers. The role offers exposure to industry experience and collaboration with specialists across different areas.
International and regional focus
You will contribute to expanding our work on multi-jurisdictional projects, supporting large industrial projects for multinational corporations, and helping SMEs and scale-up businesses enter new markets, especially in the USA and Saudi Arabia. Opportunities for international secondments are available.
Candidate profile
We seek a lawyer with 3+ years post-qualification experience in commercial contracts, gained at a City or large regional firm or in-house. Experience with international clients, import/export, tech, IP, and data protection is advantageous but not essential. Strong drafting, communication skills, and a passion for the practice area are essential.
Minimum requirements
* At least 3 years of post-qualified experience in commercial contracts as a UK solicitor.
* Experience in a commercial environment with practical contract law application.
* Expertise in complex transactions, including supply chain, procurement, outsourcing, R&D, and sales channels.
* Ability to deliver clear, practical advice understandable to non-lawyers.
