High School of Dundee is seeking an experienced and exceptional Head of Development to lead and grow its fundraising activity.
This is a key appointment for the School and Foundation, with responsibility for developing and delivering a refreshed fundraising strategy that supports bursaries and wider school priorities. It is a solo post, so we are looking for someone who is both strategic and hands‑on, with the ability to work across income generation, relationship building, stewardship and engagement.
The successful candidate will be confident working with a wide range of stakeholders, including alumni, donors, parents, senior staff, Trustees and Foundation members, and will play an important role in helping the School reach its longer‑term fundraising ambitions.
Key responsibilities
* Lead and grow fundraising income from alumni, individuals, corporates, trusts and foundations, and other supporters
* Develop a multi‑income fundraising strategy in partnership with senior leadership and Foundation stakeholders
* Build and steward strong relationships across the School community and external networks
* Support senior colleagues and volunteers in donor cultivation and solicitation
* Lead on development‑related events, engagement activity and alumni involvement
* Manage the fundraising budget and ensure activity is delivered effectively and in line with regulations
Person specification
* Significant fundraising experience, including a track record of growing income
* Excellent communication, engagement and influencing skills
* Experience of working across complex organisations and managing multiple stakeholders
* Strong financial awareness and budgeting ability
* The ability to think strategically while also delivering operationally
* A clear alignment with the values of the School and its commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion
Experience within the education sector or a comparable charitable environment would be highly valuable.

The role is based at Euclid Campus, Dundee, with hybrid working and an expectation of roughly 2 days per week on site. Candidates must already have the legal right to work in the UK on a permanent basis and appointment will be subject to a satisfactory PVG check.
