Generative artificial intelligence (AI) describes algorithms that can be used to produce new content, including audio, code, images, text, simulations, and videos. It is developing all the time and is now being used as a support mechanism for all kinds of content-based creations. University Hospital Bristol and Weston is a large university hospital which provides a wide range of learning opportunities across the organisation and the trust supports practice based learning for a diverse group of learners including those on Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professional programmes as well as supporting learner pipelines such as clinical traineeships and T levels, reflecting the ambition and focus of the education strategy.

This hybrid role supports the delivery of high-quality clinical education and simulation-based training across paediatric services:

1. Lead and support clinical learning and development for learners in paediatric settings.
2. Deliver targeted supervision, assessment and teaching aligned with Trust wide strategies.
3. Support the delivery of point-of-care simulation activities in collaboration with the Bristol Paediatric Simulation Programme (BPSP), contributing to patient safety and multidisciplinary team development.

Clinical Practice Educator (0.4 WTE)

- Provide supervision and assessment for clinical apprentices, nursing students, and internationally educated nurses.

- Lead on learner progression, improvement plans, and escalation of performance issues.

- Champion inter-professional learning and support coaching (such as the use of Collaborative Learning in Practice (CLiP)).

- Monitor and report on learner progression and placement activity.

- Contribute to service development, audits, and education strategy milestones.

- Act as a resource for clinical teams and support the development of high-quality learning environments.

- Providing pastoral support to staff and fostering a healthy learning environment to enable successful course completion.

Simulation Nurse (0.2 WTE)

- Support the planning and delivery of point-of-care simulation sessions across paediatric wards and departments.

- Assist with simulator setup, operation, and maintenance during training events.

- Collaborate with simulation faculty to deliver realistic, multidisciplinary training scenarios.

- Participate in debriefing and feedback sessions.

- Contribute to the development of simulation scenarios aligned with clinical governance and patient safety priorities.

- Maintain awareness of simulation technologies and participate in faculty development.
