About The Organisation

NHS Lanarkshire is comprised of Acute Services (which currently provide hospital based services over 3 main sites), Corporate & Property & Support Services, North and South Lanarkshire Health and Social Care Partnerships which provide integrated primary healthcare and social care services to local communities and surrounding areas.
From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part-time working hours will be reduced on a pro-rata basis. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will apply, ensuring that overall pay remains unchanged.
The Role
To provide a comprehensive secretarial and administrative service to a Physician/General Surgeon/Dental Consultant, Nurse Specialist or group of Physicians/Surgeons/Dental Consultants, Associate Specialists, Nurse Specialist and PAM Specialists.
In This Key Role, You Will
* Provide a high quality secretarial and administrative service for the Consultant/Associate Specialist, Nurse Specialist Teams, PAM Practitioner to ensure efficiency in patient care.
* Responsible for the audiotyping (touch-typing, shorthand typing) of clinical correspondence, ensuring these are typed within agreed timescales.
* Deal with telephone and face to face inquiries from all staff groups, patients, relatives, carers, providing information, directing and prioritising queries as appropriate, to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery.
* Plan and organise a range of meetings and events, training courses, including venue, attendees and travel arrangements.
* Taking, transcription and circulation of minutes.
* Responsible for stationery stock control, including ordering to ensure adequate resources are available for team.
* Co-ordinate medical staff on-call rota to ensure effective service delivery.
What You'll Bring
* Understanding of a range of work procedures, some of which are non routine requiring an intermediate level of theoretical knowledge.
* Knowledge of the range of secretarial procedures which includes advanced keyboard skills.
* Proficient in use of software systems.
* Understanding of medical terms; RSA3 and knowledge acquired through further experience.
* Good organisational and communication skills.
