Job Title: Finance Assistant
Working as part of a small finance team in a manufacturing business based in Bradford, you will support the Head of Finance and assist in the smooth processing of both Sales Ledger and Purchase Ledger functions. You will also cover other aspects of transactional finance as needed, including assisting with month-end and year-end processes.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Processing purchase invoices
2. Supplier statement reconciliations
3. Weekly/monthly payment runs
4. Completing credit account application forms for suppliers
5. Raising sales invoices and customer statements
6. Preparing daily sales reports
7. Handling queries and discrepancies (internal and external)
8. Assisting with end-of-month reports, including ageing reports
9. Filing and archiving documents
10. Opening and distributing post
11. Setting up customer and supplier accounts
12. Analyzing and developing financial strategies as the business grows
13. Assisting with financial audits
14. Supporting the Head of Finance and Risk in fiscal matters
15. Participating in SAP implementation within the finance team
16. Ensuring compliance and accuracy in financial processes
17. Performing other ad-hoc duties as required by management
Candidate Skills and Experience:
* Excellent communication skills, both in person and in writing
* Organized with the ability to maintain consistent workflow
* High attention to detail with awareness of the broader financial implications
* Ability to work under pressure in a busy environment
* Adaptable, proactive, and able to use initiative
* Flexible, energetic, and responsive to changing requirements
* Proficient in IT packages, including MS Office (especially Excel and Word), Sage, and SAP
