Senior Compliance Officer - Banking
I am currently working with a well-established bank seeking to appoint a Senior Compliance Manager to join its Second Line of Defence (2LOD) function.
This is a senior hands-on officer role within the Compliance team, offering the opportunity to contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the bank’s compliance framework, regulatory oversight, and risk management practices.
Key Responsibilities
* Contribute to the development of the compliance strategy, framework, and monitoring plan, ensuring alignment with key regulatory risks
* Promote a strong compliance culture, embedding governance, risk management, and decision-making best practices
* Provide subject matter expertise on regulatory matters, supporting business initiatives and projects with proportionate guidance and challenge
* Lead horizon scanning and regulatory change initiatives, ensuring impacts are understood and effectively implemented
* Oversee and contribute to the delivery of the compliance monitoring programme, including thematic reviews and assurance activities
* Ensure accurate and timely management information and regulatory reporting to senior stakeholders and governing committees
* Support the organisation’s adherence to SMCR requirements and broader conduct risk frameworks
Key Requirements
* Demonstrable experience within a 2LOD Compliance function in financial mortgage services
* Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks, conduct risk, and governance
* Experience in home finance / secured lending is advantageous
* Proven ability to provide effective challenge and influence stakeholders at senior levels
* Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills
* High level of integrity, sound judgement, and a collaborative approach
Desirable
* Knowledge of Shariah-compliant banking
* Relevant professional qualifications (e.g. ICA, CeMAP, CISI, ACAMS), or working towards
