Vision for Education are recruiting caring and committed Primary Teaching Assistants to support children with additional needs on a 1:1 basis in schools across Thornbury.
This role is offered on a 0-hour contract, providing flexibility to suit your availability, with opportunities to progress into long-term and permanent positions.
This is a highly rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in a child’s education and development. You will be working closely with pupils who may have SEND needs such as ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).
As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you may:
1. Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with additional needs
2. Help implement EHCP targets and individual learning plans
3. Support learning through adapted activities and interventions
4. Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation
5. Build a strong, trusting relationship with the child you support
6. Work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo
7. Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment
Assignments can range from short-term cover to long-term placements, with many opportunities to transition from a 0-hour contract into a permanent role.

What We’re Looking For
To be considered for this role, you should:
13. Have experience working with children, ideally in a school or care setting
14. Have a passion for supporting children with additional needs
15. Be patient, nurturing, and resilient
16. Be confident working 1:1 with pupils who may need extra support
17. Have strong communication and teamwork skills
18. Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one
Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential for candidates with the right attitude and experience.
