Job Purpose
The Project Liaison Coordinator is a key role to support the effective delivery of a programme of projects in Wastewater predominantly based in the north of Cumbria. The role is to ensure operational and regulatory outputs are delivered to time, cost and quality requirements.
To do this, the role will represent the wastewater operational teams throughout the project. They will provide the required operational and regulatory knowledge to support key decision making at required project milestones. They will act as site coordinator and ensure that all projects are built to asset standards, and are fit for purpose and fit to operate and maintain, whilst complying with health and safety regulations.
The role holder will ensure that the full wastewater system performance is considered through all solutions to ensure the most cost effective solution is being pursued that improves overall system performance.
The role holder will support Wastewater Operations to achieve the customer, environmental and regulatory business performance targets by effectively engaging and liaising with the appropriate SST delivery streams and field / maintenance teams.
The role holder will provide local day-to-day technical, contractual and commercial support to the respective field team and Operational Manager, as required
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
* Encourage a systems approach for performance and risk management
* Ensure compliance with the required H&S standards
* Ensure the statutory regulations are achieved and maintained
* Attend collaborative planning across the project life, including inspection and acceptance meetings.
* Support sponsors with understanding Minimal Viable Product recommendations and understanding risks due to changes of scope throughout project lifecycle.
Technical Skills & Experience
* Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the water industry, with strong technical knowledge of wastewater networks and/or treatment assets, including Combined Sewer Overflows (CSOs), pumping stations, and treatment operations.
* Solid understanding of Health & Safety standards, including Work Authorisation, Manual Handling, and Confined Spaces, ensuring safe and compliant working practices.
* In-depth experience of wastewater processes and a broad understanding of the water industry’s commercial, statutory, and regulatory frameworks.
* Demonstrates confidence and authority to influence decisions, enforce best practices, and ensure compliance throughout the project lifecycle; capable of working collaboratively across departments and external organisations.
* Strong planning, prioritisation, and problem-solving abilities; experienced with company policies and IT systems, and able to work independently to meet business objectives.
Qualifications
* The role holder will hold or be trained to a BTEC Level 3 standard or equivalent in operating Wastewater assets.
* Full UK driving licence
