Service Line: Governance, Risk, and Compliance Services (GRCS)
The team
KPMG's Governance, Risk and Compliance Services (GRCS) practice within IGH is an area of the firm with tremendous growth potential. GRCS is an integral part of our Enterprise Risk advisory practice. We provide services relating to internal audit, internal control, corporate governance, risk management, and related assurance projects. Clients are based in the public sector, and our services deliver added value using modern control assessment, risk management, and audit techniques focusing on strategic, management, operational, financial, and reporting controls. We also collaborate with other consulting teams, including Technology Risk and Cyber Risk, to ensure comprehensive advice and assurance.
The role
1. Creating annual internal audit plans for clients
2. Providing internal audit services on both outsourced and co-sourced contractual basis
3. Managing and delivering internal audit projects, including planning, review, quality assurance, and reporting
4. Offering risk management, governance, and internal audit advisory services
5. Conducting risk identification workshops and control reviews
6. Delivering control and risk training
7. Managing and reviewing internal control questionnaires
8. Performing compliance internal audits
9. Collaborating with other KPMG advisory teams
10. Managing client portfolios, maintaining relationships with senior staff, and overseeing financial performance and delivery
11. Understanding legal, regulatory, governance, risk management, auditing, accounting, and financial reporting standards affecting clients
12. Following KPMG's internal risk management and client engagement procedures
13. Staying updated on industry-specific issues affecting clients
14. Developing audit strategies aligned with KPMG's methodology
15. Involving specialists as needed and managing their input
16. Reviewing audit evidence to ensure sufficiency per IIA Standards and KPMG methodology
17. Explaining audit findings to clients and drafting reports
18. Reporting salient points to Partners/Directors
19. Preparing quarterly Audit Committee papers
20. Setting and monitoring engagement budgets
21. Monitoring work in progress and managing fees
22. Allocating staff resources appropriately
23. Setting team objectives, providing support, and feedback on performance
24. Providing coaching and training on risk management and internal audit
25. Identifying new business opportunities and assisting in proposals and business development
26. Conducting staff appraisals and counselling
27. Forecasting and reporting on client engagements
Skills, qualifications, and experience
Candidates should demonstrate:
* Experience in assurance, controls, or corporate compliance roles, including auditing and risk management, with full-cycle project experience
* Project management skills across the project lifecycle, including risk, resourcing, and quality control
* Ability to identify operational and control issues linked to key risk disciplines
* Leadership in team management and project oversight
* Internal audit experience is essential
* Experience with Public Sector clients is desirable
* Consulting experience is a plus
* Experience as the main client contact at FC/FD level
* Proficiency in PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
* Qualified (IIA, CCAB, ICAEW, CIPFA or equivalent)
