Offer description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Finance Manager to join a well-established finance team based in Salford. This role offers you the chance to lead and nurture a talented group of accountants, playing a pivotal part in shaping the future of the finance function within a respected organisation. You will work closely with the Head of Finance, driving continuous improvement and supporting business growth through your expertise and collaborative approach.

With a competitive salary of £50,000 - £55,000, enhanced pension contributions, and a suite of employee benefits including exclusive discounts, life assurance, and flexible working options, this is an ideal position for someone looking to make a meaningful impact while enjoying excellent workplace support.

* Lead and develop a dedicated team of accountants, fostering their professional growth and ensuring high standards across all financial processes.
* Enjoy an attractive salary package, enhanced pension contributions, life assurance, and access to exclusive employee discounts.
* Benefit from flexible working opportunities, free on-site parking, an electric vehicle scheme, and comprehensive well-being support through an Employee Assistance Programme.

What you'll do:

As Finance Manager, you will play an integral role in guiding a skilled team through all facets of financial operations. Your day-to-day responsibilities will see you collaborating with colleagues across departments to deliver timely month-end closes, drive process enhancements, and provide valuable insights through detailed reporting. You will be instrumental in supporting budgeting cycles, forecasting activities, and ensuring robust controls are maintained throughout all accounting procedures. By mentoring your team members and championing their development, you will help create an environment where everyone can thrive. Your ability to communicate effectively with both internal stakeholders and external auditors will be essential in maintaining transparency and upholding best practices.

* Oversee all aspects of the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and adherence to globally set timelines within three working days.
* Drive ongoing improvements in working processes across both the management accounts team and the wider finance department as needed.
* Act as a key liaison between the finance team and other areas of the business to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
* Support business financial controllers with annual budget preparation and monthly forecast submissions to facilitate informed decision-making.
* Prepare various reports for UK management and group reporting for head office requirements, providing insightful analysis where necessary.
* Analyse monthly KPI reports and provide clear commentary to the Head of Finance to support strategic planning.
* Ensure balance sheet reconciliations and complex journal entries are completed accurately and efficiently.
* Monitor operational performance of workflow invoicing systems to maintain high standards of service delivery.
* Manage and mentor a team of six at different stages of their professional qualifications, supporting their development through regular appraisals and goal setting.

What you bring:

To excel as Finance Manager in this role, your background should include significant experience leading teams within finance functions—ideally within shared service centres or similar environments. Your technical proficiency will be underpinned by full accountancy qualifications (CIMA/ACCA/ACA), complemented by advanced Excel capabilities that enable you to manage complex reporting requirements. Familiarity with SAP ERP systems will allow you to quickly adapt to internal processes while your strong interpersonal skills will help you build trusted relationships across the organisation. Your approach should be collaborative and supportive; you’ll be expected to mentor colleagues at various stages of their careers while promoting best practice throughout the department. A keen eye for process improvement combined with an understanding of commercial drivers will ensure you add value beyond traditional accounting duties. If you are passionate about developing others as much as yourself—and thrive in environments where teamwork is valued—you’ll find this position both rewarding and fulfilling.

* Full accountancy qualification (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) is required to demonstrate your technical expertise in financial management.
* Proven experience managing teams within a finance or accounting environment, including conducting appraisals and setting objectives for staff development.
* Advanced Excel skills are essential for handling complex data analysis and reporting tasks efficiently.
* Experience using SAP ERP systems is highly desirable to streamline financial operations; familiarity with IDL consolidation systems would be advantageous.
* Excellent leadership abilities with a nurturing approach that encourages collaboration, knowledge sharing, and professional growth among team members.
* Strong analytical skills enabling you to interpret financial data accurately and provide meaningful commentary for senior management.
* Effective communication skills that foster positive relationships across departments as well as with external partners such as auditors.
* A process-driven mindset with the capability to implement new procedures and controls that enhance efficiency without compromising quality.
* Experience working alongside operational managers is desirable for understanding commercial elements within the business context.
* A commitment to continuous improvement coupled with time management skills that allow you to meet tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
