Band 3 Health Care Support Worker works closely with patients, families, and NHS staff to deliver safe, kind and effective care. The role requires active collaboration with registered nurses and multi‑disciplinary teams to support quality outcomes and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
* Maintain the safety of service users by recognising role limits and working effectively with registered nurses.
* Use up‑to‑date skills and evidence‑based policies when implementing individual care plans.
* Safeguard people, recognise and act on risks, and report safety concerns.
* Be open and transparent about own practice and identify areas for safety or quality improvements.
* Keep accurate, legible, comprehensive records and comply with mandatory training.
* Provide skilled, evidence‑based care in line with agreed policies and procedures.
* Collaborate with patients, families and other professionals to contribute to all stages of the care planning process, including risk assessment.
* Act as a patient advocate within the multi‑disciplinary team.
* Communicate well with team members, understand roles, reflect on practice and drive improvement for high‑performing teams.
* Adhere to the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers and Adult Social Care Workers in England (Skills for Health 2013).
* Work with patients and carers to obtain consent, involve them in decision‑making, signpost to additional support services and reassure them professionally.
* Escalate complaints or concerns swiftly in line with Trust policy.
* Participate in supervision and annual appraisals to reflect on work, understand objectives and monitor progress.

* Completed the Health Care Support Worker care certificate in full.

* Strong team player who communicates well and works professionally.
* Eager to learn, grow and advance in the role.
* Ability to work safely within the Band 3 standards and with registered nurses.
