We are looking for a Whitehaven Teaching Assistant. We hire people who are passionate about supporting young people with additional needs.
We have a position in a SEND department in a school in Whitehaven to support young people with additional needs and SEMH. You will be working as a Teaching Assistant in part of a specialist team to support young people at KS3 and KS4. The school is a modern vibrant environment with great facilities and a dedicated team to supporting young people with additional learning needs.
School hours are 8:30am – 3:30pm Monday to Friday. We are looking for someone full time and also part time 2/3 days a week.
The ideal person for the role:
* Is passionate about supporting young people with additional needs.
* Is a great communicator to be able to communicate with the team, parents and pupils.
* Having experience of working with young people with SEMH, Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia is a bonus.
* Can contribute to the development and maintenance of a purposeful, nurturing learning environment.
The role:
* Working with pupils 1:1 and also in small group environment.
* Supporting with behaviour management, using appropriate strategies in line with the school.
* Adjusting activities to ensure achievement of learning goals.
* Attending to the students’ personal needs where required.
* Working closely with the teacher to ensure the provision supports each identified student’s learning needs.
* Communicating with the SEND team regularly to develop learning strategies.
