About the Role
We are delighted to be partnering with the UK’s leading contract catering provider in the search for a General Manager to oversee services at a independent boarding school in Dorset.
This is a significant, senior leadership role with responsibility for all aspects of the catering operation—from daily school dining to hospitality and internal & commercial events.
With revenues exceeding £2.5 million and a dedicated team of 50, the role requires a balance of operational excellence, financial accountability, and inspirational leadership.
The successful candidate will have the freedom to shape the service, drive innovation, and ensure the food experience enhances the school’s reputation for quality and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee day-to-day dining services, hospitality and internal & commercial events.
* Manage a multi-million-pound budget with full P&L accountability, ensuring both quality & financial efficiency.
* Build strong partnerships with school leadership and stakeholders, aligning catering services with their vision and values.
* Drive continuous improvement through innovation, cost control, and proactive management.
* Support & mentor managers and wider team, encouraging professional growth and high levels of engagement.
About You:
You may come from contract catering, hotels, or broader hospitality sectors— what matters most is your ability to deliver both excellence and results.
* Proven experience in a senior catering, hospitality, or hotel management role.
* Strong track record of leading large teams and managing seven-figure budgets.
* Commercially minded with the ability to balance premium service standards and profitability.
* Confident, strategic, and hands-on leader with exceptional people management skills.
* Excellent communication and relationship-building ability with clients and stakeholders.
* Organised, adaptable, and able to thrive in an environment with high expectations.
