Orka Financial is recruiting for a Payroll Supervisor join their clients finance team based in Reading. The role is responsible for managing the end-to-end UK payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely payroll delivery while remaining fully compliant with UK legislation. This is a hands-on role, combining day-to-day payroll processing with supervision of a small payroll team. Key Responsibilities Oversee and actively process end-to-end UK payroll, including: Starters, leavers, and changes Overtime, allowances, bonuses, and deductions Ensure full compliance with UK payroll legislation, including PAYE, NI, pensions (auto-enrolment), and statutory payments Supervise, support, and coach a small payroll team, ensuring workloads are managed effectively Review and approve payroll outputs, reconciliations, and variance checks Act as the main escalation point for complex payroll queries from employees and stakeholders Pension files and statutory reports Year-end processes including P60s and P11Ds Maintain payroll controls, documentation, and procedures Liaise with HMRC, pension providers, and third-party payroll vendors as required Support payroll audits and internal reviews Skills & Experience Proven experience supervising or senior-level experience in UK payroll Strong hands-on experience with full end-to-end payroll processing In-depth knowledge of UK payroll legislation (PAYE, NI, pensions, statutory payments) Experience managing or mentoring a small payroll team Desirable Experience Payroll qualification (CIPP or equivalent) Experience with payroll systems and HRIS platforms Salary up to £40,000 depending on experience.
