Job Summary
An exciting opportunity for an aspiring Deputy Ward Manager on Ward B2 at Diana Princess of Wales Hospital. The post holder will provide nursing support within the 27‑bed mixed‑sex ward to acute patients with a range of gastrointestinal conditions. This role offers a real opportunity to develop clinical knowledge, leadership and management skills within a supportive senior team and a partnership with the University of Lincoln.
Main Duties
* Work clinically as a member of the nursing team and partner with the Ward Manager to provide clinical, professional and managerial leadership to a multidisciplinary team.
* Deputise for the Ward Manager in their absence and ensure that patient care meets high standards.
* Lead clinical nursing practice, secure and assure the highest standards of care with support from the Matron and Deputy Nurse Director.
* Manage clinical and non‑clinical risk reporting and handle queries and complaints from staff, patients and families.

Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
* Registered Nurse with up to date NMC registration.
* Teaching or assessing course or relevant experience.
* Experience working in a busy environment.
* Experience of undertaking quality control audits.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Excellent communication skills – verbal, written, listening and negotiating.
* Sound knowledge of health and safety issues and fundamental standards of nursing care.
* Ability to plan, assess, evaluate and implement patient care.
* Demonstrates the behaviours and attitudes that support the Trust's Vision and Values.
* Motivation to develop new skills and empathy, diplomacy and a positive role model.
Desirable Qualifications
* Degree in nursing.
* Leadership course of equivalent level.
* Completion of preceptorship training.
* Experience with patients with dementia or acute delirium.
* Experience with complex discharge planning.
* Experience of undertaking appraisals.
* Understanding of risk assessments and the Trust's complaints procedure and incident reporting system.
