Job Overview
The East Primary Care Team is looking for an experienced, organised and enthusiastic Receptionist to work in our Health Board‑managed GP Practice (The Laurels Surgery, Flint). Previous experience of working within a GP Practice would be beneficial and knowledge of the EMIS clinical system is desirable, however training can be given. The demands of a GP practice can change on a daily basis and therefore this role will be challenging.
The ability to speak Welsh is essential for this post.
Main Duties
* Book appointments and deal with patient queries, requiring excellent communication skills and a confident telephone manner.
* Use and maintain IT systems, including Microsoft Office, for a variety of administrative duties such as data inputting.
* Provide assistance to the smooth day‑to‑day running of the practice.
* Work at other Health Board‑managed GP practices in the East area on an ad hoc basis to meet service needs and cover staff absences.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Good standard of education
* NVQ Level 2 in Administration or equivalent qualification/experience
* ECDL
* IT qualification or word‑processing (e.g. RSA 2 or equivalent experience)
Essential Skills & Knowledge
* Experience of using Microsoft Office packages
* Experience of working in a busy reception or office environment
* Experience of dealing with the public on the phone and face to face
* Ability to work in a fast‑paced, ever‑changing environment
* Ability to input information onto a computer system with speed and accuracy
* Ability to deal with a number of different tasks simultaneously
* Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of staff both verbally and in writing
* Ability to resolve issues ‘on the spot’ using own judgement
* Understanding of confidentiality involved with post
* Knowledge of a range of administrative processes
Desirable Skills & Knowledge
* Experience of using an IT system (e.g. EMIS, Oracle, WPAS)
* Experience of working in a GP surgery or an NHS office environment
* Shorthand skills
* Knowledge of medical terminology
