Clinical governance processes enable the Trust to provide evidence to patients, the public, commissioners and to statutory bodies that the Trust provides services that are safe, effective, responsive, caring, patient centred, well led, timely, efficient and equitable. The Clinical Governance Team provide assurance of high-quality care to the Trust Board and support clinical services to achieve that assurance by leading a culture of clinical excellence to enable delivery of safe, high-quality care to patients that is evidenced by good outcomes and patient feedback, listening to the peoples voice to continuously learn and improve. The Clinical Governance Team are responsible and accountable for continually improving the quality of our services and safeguarding high standards of care by creating an environment in which excellence in clinical care can flourish and thrive. Job Purpose The post holder will be responsible for providing high quality, effective, integrated administration support service within the Clinical Governance Team whilst reacting to and implementing change to the service as directed by their line manager.

Main duties of the job

Work in a supportive capacity to key members of staff within the Clinical Governance Team to assist in the delivery of an effective service.

To support the Local Service clinical service lines (ECP/HCH) in identifying learning points from incident and patient complaint related reporting data, both internally and externally.

To support the service lines in the preparation of related reports, as required, as part of the Quality and Board assurance process.

To resolve problems relating to incident and complaint reporting and data collection quality issues, and to understand when to escalate concerns to their line manager

To work independently to produce weekly and monthly incident from Datix or other reporting systems, as requested

To maintain the Local Services (ECP/HCH) incident databases, and ensure the information is up-to-date and valid

To attend incident related meetings as agreed with their Line Manager and take minutes, produce action logs and prepare meeting papers.

To attend internal incident or patient complaint related meetings and take minutes, produce action logs and prepare meeting papers.

To provide verbal and written advice and information to staff requiring assistance with regards to the reporting of incidents.

Person Specification


Qualifications and Training

* Degree or significant professional knowledge and experience of handling databases used within the NHS
* Evidence of on-going professional development in relation to incident reporting requirements within the NHS
* Ability to produce reliable and valid reports using data from existing databases
* Ability to take meeting minutes, produce action logs, and facilitate the necessary agenda and distribution of papers
* Familiar with Incident Reporting systems (eg: Datix)
* Understanding of policies that relate to incident reporting (not necessarily Trust specific)


Experience

* Experience of working with a related database (IR1/Datix) for a minimum period of 2 years.
* Experience of dealing with requests for data to support the production of service and Trust-level reports.
* Experience of change management
* Experience of change management


Knowledge/ Skills

* Change to: Understanding of NHSE Patient Incident Response Framework (PSIRF)
* Knowledge of data protection regulations and principles of confidentiality.
* Proven ability to use knowledge and experience to analyse complex issues/data.
* Proven ability to work collaboratively with colleagues from a wide variety of disciplines.
* Proven ability to produce high quality reports and other written information.
* Understanding of statutory and mandatory responsibilities regarding clinical governance, mortality reporting and duty of candour.
