Costs Draftsperson / Costs Lawyer - Manchester / Liverpool / London / Birmingham
An established national law firm is looking to recruit a Costs Lawyer to join their well-regarded Costs & Advocacy team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing department that advises across a broad spectrum of commercial and personal injury litigation.
The team is involved in all aspects of costs from low-value disputes and fixed recoverable costs to complex, high-value matters. In addition to technical drafting work, you’ll also have the opportunity to attend CCMCs and application hearings, providing strategic advice throughout the life cycle of a claim, including reserving, budgeting, recovery, and dispute resolution.
As a Costs Lawyer, you’ll independently manage a diverse caseload, drafting a range of legal costs documents and attending hearings as needed. This is an ideal role for someone looking to take the next step in their costs career, with high levels of responsibility and exposure to a variety of litigation types.
The Candidate
* Minimum 3 years’ experience in legal costs litigation
* Qualified Costs Lawyer (preferred)
* Experience acting for both Claimants and Defendants
* Confident in advocacy and attending CCMCs and applications
* Strong drafting skills, including: Budgets, Bills of Costs, Points of Dispute and Replies
* Proven track record negotiating settlements
* Ability to manage and prioritise a varied caseload independently
* High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
