The Role:
As a Payroll/HR Administration Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and accurate processing of payroll for our dedicated employees and customers. Your responsibilities will include:

Leeds City Council Job Description
Job Purpose:
Shared Services consists of over 1,000 employees in the Business Support Centre and Business Administration Service. Both of these services provide administration support activities to a wide range of teams and services across the council.
We help the council to streamline operations by redesigning processes, reviewing models of delivery to enable better sharing of resources and exploiting existing or introducing new technology to modernise the way we work.
Our staff use a range of computer programmes and systems to support services which include those working with teams based across the council in a number of different administration roles.
This role is working in the Employment Services team which is responsible for payroll and HR administration processes for over 40,000 employee records. This includes activity relating to all aspects of employment, ranging from recruitment processes, changes to terms and conditions, additional payments, attendance, health and safety, training and leaver processing. You will responsible for delivering key administration duties within demanding deadlines with a customer focused approach.
Responsibilities for Grade:
21. Working with high levels of accuracy for tasks such as checking documents and recording numerical and alphabetical information.
22. Identify problems and areas for improvement and offer solutions.
23. Supporting staff and develop new team members.
24. Use own initiative and judgement where appropriate, providing outcomes and solutions for customers from a range of options.
25. Work on your own, manage your own workload and use your initiative to adhere to time scales and deadlines.
26. Ability and experience to carry out administrative duties such as filing, faxing, cash handling, photocopying, mail handling, diary management and arranging meetings.
27. Ability to analyse and collate data and use it to produce reports.
28. Understanding of legal business, financial, audit, confidential and operational requirements of the service, and the impact on its day-to-day work.
29. Work flexibly and move within service areas – working at different locations depending on service demand.

31. Willing to actively participate in training and development activities to ensure up to date knowledge, skills and continuous professional development.

Skills Required
32. Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with a wide range of people including face-to-face, telephone and written communication skills. Including the processes for dealing with varied information with a range of audiences.
33. Work with, and within, multiple teams of staff and contribute to its development with suggestions for new ways of working.
Knowledge Required
34. Knowledge of the applications, systems and IT programmes utilised by the service and being able to accurately record and retrieve information.
35. Knowledge of Contract procedure rules, Payroll processing, Recruitment and selection, Children’s safeguarding
Experience Required
36. Experience of working on your own and using your initiative to adhere to timescales and deadlines.
37. Experience and understanding of the importance of providing excellent customer services and experience of dealing positively with challenging situations.
