Role Overview
Working as part of the Engineering and Maintenance Team, you will work closely with the Head of Engineering to ensure the maintenance and continuous improvement of electrical and mechanical equipment on site, along with the rectification of breakdowns and installation of new plant and equipment.
The Multi-Skilled Technician is a key member of the Engineering and Maintenance Team, responsible for leading improvement projects, supporting automation enhancements, and assisting production teams with repairs and maintenance tasks.
Working Hours
Rotating Day Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, 6am to 2pm and 2pm to 10pm, rotating weekly.
Key Responsibilities
1. Diagnose electrical and mechanical issues, and implement timely repairs.
2. Use schematics, repair manuals, and parts catalogues to determine solutions.
3. Design, plan, and implement equipment improvements.
4. Work from schedules and production plans to meet project deadlines.
5. Liaise with internal and external personnel to procure parts and equipment.
6. Operate with a focus on high service levels and response times.
7. Perform fault finding and diagnosis on machinery, including electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical faults.
8. Comply with electrical legislation and document actions accordingly.
9. Maintain records of breakdowns and repairs for analysis and ISO 9000 compliance.
10. Ensure a safe working environment following HSE requirements.
11. Complete hazard tags as required.
12. Support continuous improvement initiatives.
13. Maintain high standards of housekeeping, adhering to BRC standards.
14. Contribute to engineering, production, and continuous improvement activities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
* Fully Qualified Electrician.
* Practical experience in electrical and mechanical maintenance.
* Understanding of H&S requirements and principles.
* Ability to read schematics and drawings.
* Knowledge of PLCs, Inverter Drives, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, and safety circuits.
* Understanding of power press regulations.
* Ability to interpret safety rules and operating instructions.
* Experience working with motors, gearboxes, sensors, switches, heating elements, and robotics.
* Background in manufacturing environments.
* Team-oriented with flexibility and excellent time management skills.
* Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
