Purpose of Role
We are seeking a reliable and practical Maintenance Technician to support the day-to-day operation of Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.
Job Description
The successful candidate will carry out basic building maintenance and repairs, helping to ensure a safe, compliant, and comfortable environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
This role is based within Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, so a strong focus on safety, cleanliness, and professionalism is essential.
Responsibilities
1. Carry out routine and reactive basic building maintenance and repairs
2. Basic plumbing repairs ( leaks, taps, toilets)
3. Simple electrical tasks ( replacing lamps, switches – within competency)
4. Carpentry and fabric repairs (doors, locks, fixtures, fittings)
5. Painting and minor decorating
6. Respond promptly to maintenance requests and faults
7. Carry out planned preventative maintenance tasks as required
8. Ensure all work is completed in line with health & safety and infection control procedures
9. Accurately complete job reports and documentation
10. Liaise with site staff, contractors, and supervisors as needed
11. Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe condition
Essential Qualifications/Skills
12. Proven experience in general building maintenance or handyperson type work
13. Good all-round knowledge of building maintenance tasks
14. Ability to work independently and manage own workload
15. Strong awareness of health & safety requirements
16. Professional, courteous manner suitable for a healthcare environment
17. Good communication skills
18. Flexible and adaptable approach to work
