Behaviour Mentor needed for an SEMH School
Do you have a background in SEMH, SEBD or ASD? Experience with challenging behaviour? Team Teach or MAPA training? Lesson covering? Experience tutoring or small groups?
This specialist school based in West Drayton is looking for a special needs SEMH Learning Support Assistant with experience working with challenging children and young people.
The successful behaviour mentor will have the opportunity to work in this outstanding school with an international reputation in special education expertise, curriculum and resources.
Behaviour mentors must have experience working with mental health problems and complex behaviours.
This school believes all young people should be provided with appropriate education in a safe, stable, containing learning environment.
As a behaviour mentor, you will be working with secondary aged pupils who have SEMD, SEBD troubled behaviour. Some students are academic and they range from KS2 to KS4.
You are given opportunities to succeed through highly personalised individual education plans to help support their students.
This role starts in September.
Responsibilities
* Excellent behaviour management skills
* Build positive relationships with young people and staff
* Teach/cover a range of lessons when needed
* Good knowledge/experience working with children with SEMH within a special needs environment
* Experience working with secondary aged pupils
* Collaborate with the classroom teacher to define appropriate activities for pupils in relation to the curriculum
* Assess children who have long or short-term learning difficulties and work with colleagues to identify individual pupils special needs
* Liaise with other professionals such as social workers, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists and educational psychologists
Qualifications
* SEN experience
* EBD experience
* Mental Health experience
* ASD experience
* Excellent behaviour management
* Current DBS on the update service
* Classroom experience
* Working with primary or secondary
* Experience teaching a range of subjects
